摘要: IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND POLLUTANT EMISSION OF MOTOR VEHICLES, IT IS POSSIBLE TO REDUCE THE POWER OF THESE VEHICLES OR TO ACT ON THE ENERGY CONVERSION AT SEVERAL LEVELS: INTRINSIC IMPROVEMENT OF THE ENGINE; KEEPING THE EXISTING ENGINE ADJUSTED TO ITS OPTIMUM; REDUCTION OF THE ENERGY LOST BY ACCESSORIES DRIVEN BY THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS. THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH IS TO EVALUATE THE SAVINGS IN ENERGY OR THE REDUCTION IN NUISANCE TO BE EXPECTED FROM ENGINE IMPROVEMENTS. IT IS THREEFOLD: IMPROVEMENT TO THE DESIGN AND OPERATION OF CONVENTIONAL ENGINES (COMBUSTION, GEOMETRY, IGNITION CONTROL, DIESEL); FOLLOW UP STUDY OF ADVANCED ENGINES (TURBINE, STERLING); IMPROVEMENTS TO MATERIALS (IN PARTICULAR USE OF CERAMICS).
