THE AIM OF THE RESEARCH IS: - TO VERIFY THAT, FOR COMPOSITE BEAMS OF HIGH SLENDERNESS UNDER POSITIVE MOMENT, THE ULTIMATE STRENGTH IS GIVEN EITHER BY THE PLASTIFYING CHART OR BY THE LIMIT IMPOSED BY BUCKLING CONDITIONS (IN THE CASE OF A COMPLETE BOND BETWEEN SLAB AND BEAM); - TO CONTROL WHETHER SHORING MODIFIES IN ANY WAY THE ULTIMATE LIMIT STATE; - TO VERIFY SAFETY VIS A VIS THE ULTIMATE LIMIT STATE ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT MODES OF CALCULATING STRESSES. THIS RESEARCH SHOULD PROVIDE THE ANSWERS TO THE UNCERTAINTIES PERTAINING TO THE DRAFT GUIDELINES FOR THE DESIGN OF COMPOSITE STEEL-CONCRETE BRIDGES. |
