THE BEHAVIOUR OF LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE UNDER CONCENTRATED LOAD IS LITTLE KNOWN, AND THE PROBLEM ARISES FAIRLY FREQUENTLY IN CIVIL ENGINEERING. THIS RESEARCH DEALS WITH TWO ASPECTS; (1) EFFECT OF ECCENTRICITY. AXIAL PUNCHING TESTS PERFORMED TO HELP DEFINE THE REGULATIONS GOVERNING LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE HAVE SHOWN A NUMBER OF DIFFERENCES FROM THE PRESENT ASSERTIONS WHEN ROTATIONAL SYMMETRY IS NOT PRESENT ANYMORE. IT IS PROPOSED TO COMPLETE THE TESTS ALREADY CARRIED OUT WITH ECCENTRIC LOADING TESTS WITH A VIEW TO OBTAINING DATA ON THIS PARAMETER AND ITS INFLUENCE ON STRENGTH. (2) EFFECT OF A GROOVE IN THE LOAD AXIS: THE AIM OF THIS STUDY IS TO MAKE A SPECIAL INVESTIGATION IN THE CASE OF POST-TENSIONED ANCHORAGE SYSTEMS. IT IS ENVISAGED TO EXAMINE HOW THE RESULTS OF PUNCHING CAN BE DIRECTLY APPLIED, AS, IN REAL CASES, THERE IS ALWAYS A GROOVE (DUCT) IN THE ANCHORAGE AXIS TO ALLOW THE CABLE TO GO THROUGH. |
