TO STUDY THE SKIDDING RESISTANCE OF PAVEMENTS, THE CEBTP OWNS TWO MACHINES SUPPLEMENTING EACH OTHER: - THE STRADOGRAPH CAPABLE OF MEASURING THE COEFFICIENT OF LONGITUDINAL FRICTION AT LOW AND HIGH SPEED; - THE DRAINOMETER, FITTED ON A VEHICLE, FOR TAKING IN-SITU MEASUREMENTS OF DRAINAGE ABILITY. BOTH MACHINES WILL BE USED SIMULTANEOUSLY ON: - A SAMPLE OF VARIOUS SURFACINGS FOR STATISTICAL STUDY AND INTERPRETATION OF INDICES OF DRAINAGE ABILITY; - HIGH-PERFORMANCE SURFACINGS TO INVESTIGATE THOSE WHICH HAVE A LOWER DRAINAGE ABILITY BUT ALSO HAVE NON-SKID PROPERTIES; - DRAINING SURFACINGS THAT ARE PERMEABLE AND ABOUT WHICH PRESENT CONCEPTS ON THE INTERPRETATION OF FRICTION WILL HAVE TO BE MODIFIED. IT WILL THEN BE POSSIBLE TO CORRELATE THE COEFFICIENT OF LONGITUDINAL FRICTION AND DRAINAGE ABILITY INDEX AND TO FORECAST THE REDUCTION IN FRICTION AS A FUNCTION OF SPEED. |
