FOUR NATURAL ORGANIC SOILS ARE TO BE SELECTED AND TREATED WITH VARYING AMOUNTS OF CEMENT, LIME AND BITUMEN. STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT IS TO BE ESTABLISHED BY MEANS OF COMPRESSION AND MARSHALL TESTS AFTER 7, 28 AND 84 DAYS DAMP AND WET STORAGE, AND THE FROST SENSITIVITY OF THE STABILIZED MATERIAL BY MEANS OF FREEZING-THAWING TESTS. THE OBJECT IS TO MAKE A SYSTEMATIC STUDY OF STABILIZED SOILS WITH ORGANIC ADMIXTURES. THE STUDY SHOULD INDICATE WHETHER IT IS POSSIBLE TO EFFECT A PERMANENT AND FROST-RESISTANT STABILIZATION OF THESE SOILS, THE BINDERS WHICH ARE BEST SUITED FOR THIS AND THE QUANTITIES NECESSARY. |
