ON THE BASIS OF THE DATA COLLECTED AS PART OF THE RESEARCH PROGRAMME TEMPO 100, THE OBJECT OF THE STUDIES IS TO ESTABLISH A FUNCTIONAL RELATION BETWEEN THE MOMENTARY SPEED OF A SINGLE VEHICLE AND THE RELEVANT FEATURES OF THE SECTION OF ROAD. THE JOURNEY SPEED WHICH RESULTS FROM THE MOMENTARY SPEEDS FOR A SECTION TO BE EVALUATED CAN BE USED AS A TIME VALUE IN STRUCTURAL ASSESSMENT. BY INCLUDING SECTIONS WHICH HAVE SPEED LIMITS AND WHICH PASS THROUGH TOWNS, THE NECESSITY FOR MAKING AN EVALUATION WHICH EXCEEDS THE SECTION IN QUESTION IS TO BE CHECKED. FROM AN ANALYSIS OF THE MEASURED ACCELERATION VALUES AN ATTEMPT IS TO BE MADE TO DEFINE A MEASURE OF DRIVING COMFORT. SINCE DRIVING COMFORT AND SAFETY ARE CLOSELY RELATED, THE INCLUSION OF THIS MEASURE (OF DRIVING COMFORT) IN SAFETY-RELATED ASSESSMENT SHOULD BE GIVEN CONSIDERATION. |
