摘要: ON A CLASS 4 ROAD STRUCTURE, WHICH FOR THREE YEARS HAS HAD TO SUPPORT TRAFFIC NORMALLY CARRIED BY A CLASS 1 STRUCTURE, AN EXAMINATION IS TO BE MADE OF THE CRACKS WHICH HAVE OCCURRED, TOGETHER WITH THEIR EFFECTS ON THE WHOLE STRUCTURE. THE RESEARCH COMPRISES MEASUREMENT OF THE INITIAL PROPERTIES OF ALL THE INDIVIDUAL LAYERS, TRAFFIC COUNTS AND REGULAR MEASUREMENTS OF SURFACE DEFORMATION DURING TRAFFIC LOADING, AND EXTENSIVE STUDIES OF CHANNELS. THE EXPERIMENTS ARE TO BE COMPLETED BY THEORY IN THE FORM OF COMPARATIVE CALCULATIONS OF THE PROCESS OF FATIGUE AND THE FORMATION OF RUTS.
