THE OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY IS TO OPTIMIZE A 3-POINT ANCHORAGE RESTRAINT SYSTEM BY AN IMPROVED DISTRIBUTION OF STRESSES OVER THE BODY. IN 1977, AN ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE TO REACH THIS RESULT BY IMPROVING (1) THE RESTRAINT OF THE LOWER PART OF THE BODY (GEOMETRY OF THE STRAPS, SEAT CHARACTERISTICS), AND (2) THE RESTRAINT OF THE UPPER PART OF THE BODY BY INCREASING THE AREA OF THE THORAX ON WHICH THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM PRESSES (UNFLATABLE CHEST PROTECTIVE DEVICE). THIS RESEARCH IS CONDUCTED BY DEA CITROEN AND THE SNPE AS REGARDS THE INFLATABLE DEVICES, AND THE IMPACT LABORATORY WHOSE TASK IS TO CARRY OUT TESTS ON CATAPULT AND TO PROCESS THE TEST RESULTS. THE RESEARCH PROGRAMME WILL AIM AT SETTING UP THE TESTS AND CONDUCTING THE FIRST DYNAMIC EXPERIMENTS. |
