SINCE CONSIDERATION IS BEING GIVEN TO INCLUDING PARTIALLY PRESTRESSED CONCRETE IN THE SYSTEM OF GERMAN INDUSTRIAL STANDARDS (DINS), THERE IS A NEED FOR CLEAR INFORMATION ON THE TIME-DEPENDENT DEFORMATION BEHAVIOUR OF PARTIALLY PRESTRESSED STRUCTURES. ALTHOUGH FREQUENTLY THE DESIRABLE LIMITATION OF DEFLECTIONS AND TORSIONS SEEMS TO POINT TO THE USE OF PARTIAL PRESTRESSING, THERE IS A LACK OF BASIC PRINCIPLES AND DESIGN METHODS IN THIS AREA. IN SOME STRUCTURES, WHOSE CROSS SECTION HAS TO BE SUPPLEMENTED BY CAST IN SITU CONCRETE, IT IS NECESSARY TO EXAMINE THE EFFECT OF STRESS DISPLACEMENTS ON DEFORMATION. AN EFFORT IS TO BE MADE TO WORK OUT FORMULAE FOR DETERMINING THE DISPLACEMENTS AND A METHOD OF CALCULATING THE DEFORMATIONS. RESULTS ARE TO BE CHECKED BY REFERENCE TO OTHER TESTS. |
