The Memphis Engineer District has awarded a $5.2 million dredging contract for six harbors to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock LLC. The district awarded the $5,238,035 contract May 28, according to a news release. The harbors are: Memphis Harbor/McK-ellar Lake in Memphis, Tenn.; Helena Harbor-Phillips County in Helena-West Helena, Ark.; New Madrid Harbor at Mile 889 in New Madrid, Mo.; Osceola Harbor in Osceola, Ark.; Wolf River Harbor in Memphis; and Elvis Stahr Harbor in Hickman, Ky. The contract has an anticipated start date of July 1 and is scheduled for completion in February 2022. "The Memphis District is responsible for maintenance dredging certain harbors along the Mississippi River," project manager Vickie Watson said. "These harbors serve as vital links to rail and highway transportation systems in the region, helping to deliver products and commodities to and from global markets." |
