Mac McGinnis returned to service after its second rebuilding following a fire; the mv. Pioneer sank in St. Louis harbor at Mile 176 of the Upper Mississippi River; and Cmdr. Stephen Garrity was to take over as commander of the Morgan City, La., Marine Safety Office at the end of August. THIRTY YEARS AGO, Beelman River Terminals Inc. completed the first phase of a $340,000 project to upgrade the rail bed of its St. Louis terminal at Mile 181.6; Hollywood Marine Inc. won top honors from Monsanto Chemical Company for service; and the Oliver Lock and Dam at Tuscaloosa, Ala., was expected to open on time July 10. |
