摘要: With emerging 5G, tele-operated AVs where a human operator remotely drives an "autonomous" vehicle (AV) has gained momentum as an alternative for leveraging AVs to tackle societal challenges. The the study team proposes to conduct an experiments-driven and measurement-based feasibility study of AV tele-operations (i) to identify the key infrastructure (networking & edge computing) requirements for supporting tele-operated AVs; and (ii) to build a semi-virtual simulation environment for studying AV tele-operations. The proposed project builds on the combined expertise of the research team and leverages the unique MnCAV resource at CTS. It will lay the foundation for future funding opportunities, and help position UMN as a leader in AV tele-operation research.
