This research project goal is to produce specific, measurable, attainable, and realistic findings to enhance understanding of how to create safer, more complete, streets that serve all street users, provide natural storm water management, and enhance community amenity. The research will be conducted in five tasks: Conducting a literature review, soliciting expert input from Caltrans staff on research study variables (performance metrics) and Caltrans main street sections to study, designing the methodology for a robust study of Caltrans main street sections, conducting the study, and producing a final report with executive summary. Street sections to be studied will be selected after the literature review and input from Caltrans staff. Analysis of street sections will include interviews of professional practitioners and other stakeholders and primary and secondary data collection on performance metrics as defined by the study methodology. |
