Characterization of Underserved Population Perceptions and Mobility Needs in Connected-Vehicle and Smarter City Environments - Phase 2 |
摘要: |
Connected-vehicle and smarter city environments have the potential of transforming the transportation system. The increased number of on-demand mobility options and the information available to travelers has created a new dynamic in unlimited opportunities. Cities across the nation are developing new smart city initiatives to integrate open data with new transportation systems so that people can move more freely in their communities. These technologies will operate our surface
transportation systems at maximum safety and efficiency. However, as technological innovation continues to progress at light speed, the countrys underserved
communities are increasingly left behind. The goal of the proposed outreach effort is to better understand and characterize underserved populations perceptions about mobility needs in urban and rural environments of the Pacific Northwest and to inform these communities about the opportunities for mobility improvement that a
smart city could provide. Year II Project Tasks Include: 1) Assemble a quantitative or descriptive statistics for locations, 2) Prior to, then shared with stakeholders, overlay maps with visualized multiple narratives; and in second facilitated discussion address the overlays from multiple capitals perspective (this will lead to an authentic characterization of needs), and 3) utilize a modified futures game planning scenario as a vehicle to identify potential smart city implications and solutions. |
