Evaluating the use of Recycled and Sustainable Materials in Self-Consolidating Concrete for Underground Infrastructure Applications
项目名称: Evaluating the use of Recycled and Sustainable Materials in Self-Consolidating Concrete for Underground Infrastructure Applications
摘要: This study aims to improve mechanical properties, reduce drying shrinkage and crack width, and include sustainable recycled fibers and cement replacements in concrete materials used for tunnel liners and other underground applications. The objectives of the proposed research are: (a) review of literature and state of practice to study the application of self-consolidating concrete for underground infrastructure applications; (b) Evaluating fresh and hardened properties of self-consolidating concrete; (c) evaluating the use of recycled fibers to mechanical and structural the properties of self-consolidating concrete; (d) investigating the use of sustainable materials (i.e. fly ash and slag) to reduce the amount of cementitious materials in self-consolidating concrete, (e) evaluating the impact of fiber-reinforcement on drying shrinkage, crack initiation and crack propagation in self-consolidating concrete. This project is in line with one of the main themes of the UTC-UTI as investigation of new sustainable and high-performance materials for UTI. The main goal is to explore sustainable and recycled alternative materials for construction of UTIs that improves the performance and structural properties of underground structures. The expected outcome of this study will be the guidelines for application of recycled and sustainable materials for construction and repair of underground infrastructures.
