The purpose of this thesis is to shed light upon travelling constraints and opportunities faced by families who previously have been marginalised and neglected both in their everyday life and in the human geography research field. The target group consists of parents to wheelchair-bound children (aged 0-18 years old) and the overall aim is to explore how the disability affects their travel patterns on different geographical scales, when using different transport modes. Paper I: Tourism travel constraints for families with wheelchair-bound children, Paper II: Barriers to transport and its impact on social exclusion, Paper III: Do families with wheelchair-bound children travel differently than other families? Paper IV: How families with wheelchair-bound children travel in time and space. |
