Durability of Fiber Reinforced Concrete Pipe Exposed to Florida Aggressive Environments |

The durability of dry-cast synthetic fiber reinforced concrete (SynFRC) pipes will be investigated on SynFRC beams and SynFRC cored cylinders obtained from larger SynFRC blocks with
concrete composition similar to that used for dry-cast concrete pipes embedded with synthetic
fiber. Based on previous research, the synthetic fibers that show the most promise are PP and PVA fibers. There are various producers of these fibers and the project would look at those used previously in dry-cast concrete pipes. The durability of SynFRC when exposed to environments relevant to Florida aggressive conditions will be investigated. There is potential for a more economic and durable concrete pipe if the synthetic fibers or the fibers concrete interface does not degrade to a significant extent (i.e., good durability). |
