摘要：	The purpose of this study is the development of a proof-of-concept truck crash prediction model with a particular focus on the use of owner-operators and employee drivers employed by the carrier. While substantial attention has been given to motor carrier safety performance, scant attention has been paid to how a carrier�s use of owner-operators and employee drivers affects carrier crash rates. It is important to provide insight on which of these labor segments is more prone to achieving better safety performance. This represents a significant problem because of the significant number of owner-operators in the industry. This study will enhance the understanding of how the use of owner-operators and employee drivers contributes to state reportable crashes.
