After adapting to the ONE ITE calendar, the ITE Washington State Section (ITEWA) has continued to provide programming that follows a consistent pattern of monthly meetings from September through June, usually held on the second Tuesday of the month. These meetings are followed with a board meeting to assess previous events and chart upcoming events. The Section takes the month of July off and starts programming discussions in August with Committee Chairs. ITE WA adapted quickly to the virtual world and found it afforded the Section a broader reach to members. In the beginning of the pandemic, events were more geared toward technical programs. In the last year, ITEWA has returned to some in-person events like its all-day vendor conference, all-day safety conference, student scholarship night, an industry night in the eastern part of the state, and some lunch meetings. The Section has experimented with hybrid in-person/virtual meetings to keep members across the large state engaged. Social and networking events have returned slowly including a golf tournament, trivia night, and student night. Slow to return was the Traffic Management Center tour, which was also a social/networking event. The golf tournament and a full day vendor show with vendor IMSA (International Municipal Signal Association) are ITE WA's biggest fundraisers and support its university scholarship offerings. Outreach from the ITE Western District, called ITE 101, prompted ideas such as promoting the technical project awards aligned with Western ITE and ITE International. ITE WA hopes to continue to expand its engagement with Student Chapters that also waned during the pandemic. |
