| 摘要： | The United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) established an Intelligent Vehicle Initiative (IVI) as a major component of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) program. The intent of the IVI is to improve significantly the safety and efficiency of motor vehicle operations by reducing the probability of motor vehicle crashes. These safety improvements could also show secondary benefits such as increased transportation mobility, productivity, or other operational improvements. USDOT entered into a cooperative agreement on September 29, 1999 with Volvo Trucks North America, Inc., in partnership with U.S. Xpress, to test and evaluate a radar-based collision warning system (Vorad(Trade Name)), an adaptive cruise control system (SmartCruise), and an advanced electronic braking system (AdvBS). |
