LAST MONTH, THE FEDERAL RESERVE RAISED INTEREST RATES by another quarter point (0.25%), its most recent maneuver to stave off still-high inflation levels and stomp inflation down to 2%. Yes, inflation is trending down, but many economists have indicated that it's not declining quickly enough. This interest rate increase represents the tenth consecutive hike made by the Federal Reserve, moving the rate from 5% to 5.25% and marking its highest level since 2007. This time, though, the Fed indicated that it could potentially pause rate increases after evaluating if additional rate adjustments are necessary. |
