| 摘要： | The KSITE Excellence in Transportation Award is offered annually for excellence in the advancement of transportation to meet human needs, by an organization (government agency, legislative body, consulting firm, industry, and other private-sector organization) for a project completed in the award year located within the Section boundaries. The September KSITE Section meeting included a presentation on transportation's role in bringing the World Cup to Kansas City, KS, USA. The presentation included how the Kansas City Sports Commission highlighted the benefits of Kansas City's transportation infrastructure to FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) transportation officials. Attendance at the meeting was robust, and there were some great questions from the audience including Student Chapter members. This presentation was very interesting and fun as members of KSITE were directly involved in the process for how Kansas City was able to land a bid to host FIFA World Cup games in 2026. This was a large accomplishment for this region given its size, compared to the other 11 U.S. cities that won bids as well. |
