When IMSA's forerunner, the International Association of Fire and Police Telegraph Superintendents, was founded in 1896, Henry Ford was just completing his first vehicle, creating a legacy that drives our industry and our association to this day. Over the nearly 130 years since, transportation, fire mitigation and public safety have all been intertwined in a historical race to improve technology and standards while reducing the human costs of this advancement. We often talk with justifiable pride about our history and Thomas Edison being an early member of our organization at the crucial moment when we were shedding old practices from the candlelit horse and buggy era, and adopting new standards for a new century. History is a moment in time, but legacy is how people evolve and at IMSA, we are in a legacy defining moment. |
