Working alongside Mansfield District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council, Severn Trent Water is spending £76m on the largest project of its kind ever to be attempted in the UK. With council support and other third-party funders, the total investment could reach £85m. The Mansfield SuDS scheme, which completed its first rain garden earlier this year, aims to create a surface water drainage system that can hold 58 million litres of water. This is roughly the equivalent of 23 Olympic-sized swimming pools. The project will help reduce flood risk for 90,000 people and aims to create 390 jobs locally. |
