摘要: Naturally, local authorities wish to extend the lifespan of the products used on the roads but have to manage a range of costs to do this, including carbon emissions. Using polymer modified bitumen is a proven and established method to increase durability. The downside of using polymers, however, is that the overall carbon footprint of the binder increases. To tackle this problem, Nynas has launched Nypol RE. It is an elegant solution in its simplicity - a polymer modified bitumen containing biogenic material. By incorporating biogenic carbon in Nypol RE, the footprint of the polymer modification is counterbalanced without affecting the extended lifespan it provides. This leads to a significantly reduced climate impact, Nynas says.
