Ms Agbabiaka started out as a technician in a local authority: 'Basically in those days, the good old days, where we had career progression, you could come in as a technician, you could work your way up, senior technician and then engineer and so forth, so that's what I did. I did an ONC and I went to university.' For nearly six years in the run-up to 2012, she was in charge of delivering the Olympic Route Network at the Olympic Delivery Authority. From there she went briefly to Buckinghamshire County Council before her Olympics expertise took her to Canada to work on preparations for the Toronto 2015 Pan-Am Games. From 2017, she was head of public realm - highways, energy and operational facilities services in Islington before taking up the role at Liverpool in May Last year. She tells Highways: 'It is a new role. Initially it was to come in and assist with the best value improvements, based on the Caller report. So from the Caller report, we are now under intervention, and have some commissioners in. |
