摘要: More than half (54.7%) of the highways sector has an 'official, published net zero strategy' and just under half (49.3%) consider carbon reduction among their highest priorities and are 'prepared to make major changes and investments' to help achieve it, a new Highways Asks survey has found. Almost three-quarters of respondents (73.3%) said they would be 'willing to pay more for a product or service that meets our sustainability expectations' with almost one in five (18.7%) strongly agreeing. There was also clear evidence that the sector is making progress on its carbon accounting and analysis, although the poll results also demonstrate the size of the task ahead and give some indication of the speed of this progress. Over half (52%) said they had 'fully audited' their scope 1 emissions - usually defined as direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by an organisation. The proportion fell to almost 41.3% for those who had fully auditing scope 2 emissions - defined as indirect emissions from purchased electricity, steam, heat, and cooling - and it fell again for scope 3. Just over one in five (22.7%) had completed a full audit of scope 3 emissions - defined as all other emissions associated with a company's activities.
