摘要: Despite the September heatwave, we're already up and running in ourwinter operations, something we do each year from 1 October. As we've passed the autumn equinox, we'll soon start to feel the winter nights drawing in. With the change in seasons, we're asking drivers to be prepared for the change in weather conditions that can be expected over the coming months. Weather conditions vary considerably throughout the year and sometimes change very quickly. Although we've started winter operations, that doesn't mean we'll be out gritting straight away; our roads are only salted when there is a risk of ice forming. This could be when the road surface temperatures are forecast to drop below +1℃ or when moisture could be present that could form ice. However, our teams - working with meteorological experts from the Met Office and MetDesk - are closely monitoring weather forecasts and are prepared for whatever conditions the autumn and winter season may bring.
