More huge steps to bolster and improve safety standards in the engineering sector even further were celebrated at an event held at transport giant DAF's headquarters in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.The Sir Moir Lockhead Leaders in Safety Awards - now j in its fourth year - recognised achievements across a diverse range of disciplines across the industry.Ian Grant, Aftersales Director for DAF Trucks, and Will Dalrymple, Editor of Transport Engineer, opened proceedings, before SOE Chair Shaun Stephenson outlined why the Society is dedicated to upholding and improving safety standards across the industry.Shaun said: "There have been some real industry-changing developments in the last year that affect real people's lives and that have improved real people's lives. These Awards recognise that."The Awards also encourage the entrepreneurship that is needed to ensure that we're operating heavy vehicles and heavy plant in the safest way possible. "The Awards are also designed to encourage individuals to bring forward new initiatives and new ideas. Well done - and thank you - to the winners." |
