Following on from Malcolm Cowtan's look at the present day bus scene in Chester are two views that Iain MacGregor took of the two major operators' activities in May 1965. Chester Corporation had acquired the Chester Tramways Company's 23-year-old horse tram system in 1902, electrified and re-gauged it and provided an electric tram service from 1903 until buses took its place in 1930. The company trams were crimson and cream, but the corporation replaced the crimson with pale green on the electric trams and replacement buses. |
