Rotala-owned Diamond Bus has agreed to acquire the bus business and certain specific assets (principally the vehicles used) from Claribel Coaches Ltd. The transaction is expected to conclude on April 24, 2022. All bus operating staff and 18 associated vehicles will transfer to Diamond Bus. Rotala said the current directors of Claribel Coaches have decided to focus on their ongoing coach business, Birmingham International Coaches. It added: "Further information regarding the transition of services will be available in the coming weeks." Claribel Coaches Ltd of Tile Cross, Birmingham was initially established in 1977 as Claribel Airport (PTE) Hire Coaches Ltd. David Watkiss purchased Elmdon-based Claribel Coaches with one Bedford coach after the death of owner Ronnie Lees. David Watkiss died in 2001, and his sons Andrew, Matthew and Nigel took over the business. All are still named directors. Claribel Coaches business was one of the few West Midlands independent operators known for mainly operating vehicles purchased as new. The business currently has a standard international O-licence for 35 vehicles. |
