Two of Berlin's new Alexander Dennis Enviros double-deckers are the first BVG buses to have their seats upholstered in the operator's bold new 'diversity' pattern fabric. The design features 80 different interlocking miniature silhouettes in orange, red, light blue and black, including children, elderly people, a Muslim praying, a homosexual couple embracing and women practicing yoga. "The BVG is incredibly diverse and that's exactly the message we'll be conveying with every journey in future," says head of marketing Christina Wolburg." The diversity design replaces the 'urban jungle' pattern introduced in 1989. It consisted of red, blue, white and grey squiggles and was jokingly referred to by some Berlin folk as looking like wriggling worms. |
