The organisers of this year's Imberbus, centred on Warminster and Salisbury Plain on Saturday August 20, are determined that it will go ahead despite a national rail strike that day. There are scheduled bus services to Warminster and from Bath (First D1) and Salisbury (24), and from Salisbury to Tilshead (Salisbury Reds 2) to join the Imberbus service there. From Swindon or Chippenham, take service 49 or 33 to Devizes, then catch the 2 or 270 to West Lavington, which is served by Imberbus twice per hour. As we closed for press, the organisers hoped to provide extra car parking on the edge of Warminster and express coach services and excursions from London, Bristol, Bath, Dorchester and other places. "Please give your readers assurance that there will be ways to get there," says organiser Sir Peter Hendy, who also is chair of Network Rail. |
