Bristol City Council's proposals for a Clean Air Zone covering the city centre have been approved by the government. The council is hoping that they can be introduced in summer 2022. The scheme will include charges for driving non-compliant cars - a class D scheme in government parlance - similar to that in place in Birmingham. Buses which do not meet the minimum Euro6 standard will have to pay £100 to enter the zone. Council documents currently state that this would cover a 24 hour period, although the schemes already up and running in Bath and Birmingham charge from midnight to midnight. |
