More of the 17 Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) schemes funded by the government's £20m Rural Mobility Fund are coming to fruition. Cheshire East Council has received £1.2m, to introduce the 'go-too' on-demand minibus service in an area to the south and west of Nantwich. Journeys can be made anywhere within the zone, except within Nantwich itself. Operating hours are 0700-2100 Monday to Saturday, with a £3 flat fare, reduced to £2 for concessionary pass holders and under 16s. It is operated by the council's own company, Transport Service Solutions Ltd, using Mellor-bodied Fiats and Via software. Hertfordshire has received £1.4m from the same source, enabling it to start HertsLynx, covering a mainly rural area centred on Buntingford. Travel is permitted to and from (but not within) neighbouring towns including Hitchin, Royston and Bishop's Stortford, where there are designated stops for the service to use. |
