Arriva The Shires ceased operating Green Line services 748 and 758 (Hemel Hempstead - Victoria) after December 4. Arriva says that prior to Covid-19 the service was already experiencing a decline in passenger numbers and that it was no longer sustainable. Apart from wartime suspension, Hemel Hempstead has been served by Green Line since 1930. Route 758 was introduced by London Country in September 1981 and initially provided four journeys a day from Hemel Hempstead estates - Victoria via the M1. Green Line reached its peak in early 1962 when nearly 330 vehicles operated on a network of 30 routes. Now just four routes operate under the Green Line brand. Reading Buses operates routes 702 (Victoria - Windsor - Legoland) and 703 (Heathrow Terminal 5 - Bracknell) whilst the 755 and 757, run by Arriva the Shires, link Victoria with Luton. |
