One of the Dewsbury Bus Museum's two restored West Riding Guy Wulfrunians -the only surviving examples - was displayed at its running day on November 14, but mechanical issues frustrated its plans to put both vehicles back into service. Roe-bodied 970 (WHL 970), new in October 1963, was on show with the finishing detailed touches applied to the red and cream livery the company used for former tram routes, but similar 995 (UCX 275), new to County Motors in September 1960 and painted in West Riding's green and cream livery, was unable to attend the event. It would seem that technical complexities that haunted the Wulfrunian in its short working life have continued to visit this innovative design in preservation. |
