Operators and private preservationists have acquired the eight restored vehicles - six of them Bedford coaches - owned by Cyril Kenzie at his death on September 22, aged 93 (Buses November). Another Cambridgeshire operator, Dews Coaches of Somersham, has purchased Kenzie's personal favourite, 1951 Duple Vista-bodied Bedford OB JBY 804. Sharpes of Nottingham has taken one of his two 1965 twin-steer Bedford VAL14s, Plaxton Panorama-bodied GUP 743C, while the other, Harrington Legionnaire-bodied CNW 155C, has gone to York Pullman along with former Southdown 1750 (750 DCD), a 28-seat Harrington Cavalier-bodied Leyland Leopard L2 touring coach new in 1963. |
