Over the last two years or so, Swansea City Council has offered free bus travel during school half term and bank holiday periods. This can only be commended in order to remove some of the cars from the road. However, it appears that the council and bus operators are not communicating with each other as over the recent Jubilee bank holiday period, Swansea's major bus operator, First Cymru, provided a Sunday service on three out of the four weekend days, The free travel offer was taken up by many families who wished to visit the numerous events happening around Swansea and Gower, but were frequently met with buses displaying 'Sorry - Bus Full', resulting in maximum capacity and overcrowding. The majority of services that run on Sundays are usually every hour or less and a number of services, of course, do not even run on Sundays anyway. |
