This other story of buses and public art is from last summer, when Birmingham hosted the Commonwealth Games and some roads were closed temporarily to all traffic. Among these was Great Hampton Row in the city's Jewellery Quarter, from which National Express West Midlands service 52 was diverted while the tarmac was covered by artificial grass. The bus stops and timetable cases were left in situ for the duration of the disruption, including this one next to the equally temporary installation of a larger-than-life glassfibre King Kong gorilla in a pop-up park. |
