The quarterly Leyland Torque is effectively a part-work that builds up into a sum of the great knowledge of the Leyland Society's members and office bearers. Bus articles in this edition include Maurice Doggett's description of the great variety of EX-numbered experimental bodies that Eastern Coach Works (ECW) built at Lowestoft between 1974 and 1985 once it had become part of the Leyland organisation. The first of these was a one-off body on a Leyland National underframe, a product developed with a view to offering a knocked down kit for overseas assembly but which never made it into production. The last were two rear-engined Leyland Tigers for Thailand, another project that failed to attract an order though one of them became a bus in the UK. |
