摘要: Limerick bus station is on a huge concourse and looks very neglected. The railway station next door is more welcoming, though Starbucks doesn't open until 07:00 and I am here at 06:30. Limerick, standing at the mouth of the River Shannon, is Ireland's fourth biggest city. Given Limerick's historical importance, dating back to 812AD, the transport interchange is to the city's discredit. Originally, I had planned to catch the 07:05 343 to Ennis, but a five minute delay to its arrival and my experience so far of Bus Eireann's punctuality meant I wouldn't risk a nine minute peak-time connection. The 343 runs hourly between Limerick and Ennis supplemented at peaks time by additional journeys to and from Shannon Airport. There is a faster Expressway service to Ennis which takes an hour but I am interested in the more scenic route that should take 88 minutes.
