摘要: This document describes an approach to develop Sense and Avoid (SAA) surveillance accuracy requirements that leverages modeling and simulation. The approach relies on encounter models to describe the dynamic encounter situations that an SAA system will have to resolve and a fast-time simulation which determines the outcome of an encounter. The fast-time simulation includes models of the unmanned aircraft, the SAA system, and the intruder aircraft involved in an encounter. Both encounter models and fast-time simulation have repeatedly been used to evaluate SAA systems and were also previously used to develop and certify the Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS). Adding a tunable surveillance accuracy model and representative SAA logic to the modeling and simulation framework enables development of surveillance accuracy requirements. This document also describes preliminary results when applying this approach and provides recommendations for future work.
