摘要: This research measures both user and non-user benefits from public transit systems in order to accurately measure total benefits of publicly provided transportation in rural areas. The contingent variation method (CVM) was used to measure the benefits of transit associated with two rural transportation systems in Washington State. The project consisted of two stages: conducting traditional focus groups to investigate the nature and extent of rural transit, and then administration of a CVM questionnaire to measure attitudes, perceptions and economic benefits from public transit services. This study provides a potential range and magnitudes of values from transit systems based on survey of area residents. Evidence form this study shows that there are potentially greater values to transit among household members than those reflected by the responses of a single household member.
