TWENTY YEARS AGO, the crew of Kirby Inland Marine's mv. El Paso helped the Coast Guard rescue nine boaters after their boat capsized near the Galveston (Texas) Causeway; Capt. Louis Ledet was indicted by a grand jury in Assumption Parish, La., in the shooting death of Ryan P. Audra aboard the mv. Capt. E.J.; and the River Heritage Museum opened in Paducah, Ky. THIRTY YEARS AGO, a 6,800 hp. Viking 2000 towboat sold for $5.11 million to Iowa Fleeting Service at a U.S. Marshal's auction in Gretna, La.; and the Coast Guard cleared St. Louis harbor for river movements after six weeks of shutdown due to Mississippi River flooding. |
