| 摘要： | Speeding and speed control are often considered critical issues on residential and collector streets. Activities to reduce speed and volume on residential streets have recently been gathered under the term traffic calming. Speed management goes beyond traffic calming by examining higher speed facilities, such as arterials, in addition to residential and collector streets. Integrating speed management techniques on residential, collector, and arterial streets can encourage traffic to use major roadways rather than residential streets and can address need on an areawide basis rather than for an isolated roadway or intersection. The Handbook of Speed Management Techniques was developed to identify speed management techniques used throughout the country and to give practitioners basic information regarding their use. The Handbook includes descriptions, photographs, experiences of agencies that have used the techniques, and lessons learned. |
