| 摘要： | Speeding and speed control are often considered critical issues on residential and collector streets. Activities to reduce speed and volume on residential streets have recently been gathered under the term traffic calming. Speed management goes a step beyond traffic calming by looking at higher speed facilities such as arterials in addition to residential and collector streets. Integrating speed management techniques on residential, collector, and arterial streets can encourage traffic to use major roadways rather than residential streets and can address need on an areawide basis rather than for an isolated roadway or intersection. This Handbook provides practitioners with basic information regarding speed management techniques including descriptions, photographs, experiences of agencies that have used the techniques, and lessons that have been learned. |
