摘要：	Helsinki University of Technology, Laboratory of Telecommunications Software and Multimedia started a project called IPMAN - management of massive IP networks, funded by Tekes and industry partners, in 1999. The aim of the project is to find out the problems arising when the IP networks grow in number of nodes and volume of traffic. This report is a record of the status of the project in December 1999, after the final year of studies. The report contains a literature study of the current network management models and protocols. The original part of the work is the four-layer network management model used in the report.
