| 摘要： | The importance of road traffic to peoples' living condition and further knowledge on segregation are among the topics The Research Council of Norway has identified as relevant in the research program 'Housing and Living Conditions.' The present report discusses whether changes in the local traffic situations may create processes towards residential segregation. It is hypothesized that road traffic changes may have such an effect. The hypothesis may be tested by use of data from the surveys and environmental studies the Institute of Transport Economics has conducted in the inner east area of Oslo over the last 10-15 years, together with census data of living conditions in the population. Road traffic conditions have generally not been viewed as a potential mechanism behind residential segregation. If correct, road traffic may prove to be an important explanation of segregation on low geographical levels. |
