In order for public transport to be an option for everyone, it is important for passengers to feel safe when using public transport. As well as knowing that traffic safety is dealt with, they also need to feel safe with regard to their fellow passengers, their surroundings and at bus stops. Passengers who do not feel safe when using public transport will eventually stop using buses, trains and trams and public transport will now longer be an alternative for them. The report deals with regular public transport users' experiences of feeling unsafe when using public transport, i.e. the fear and anxiety they may experience in relation to the surroundings, bus stops and fellow passengers, and the measures which people feel could be taken to reduce this fear. Regular public transport users are defined as people who use public transport at least once a month. The report does not deal with feeling of a lack of safety and measures in relation to traffic accidents involving public transport. |
